Who We Are and why we're here...
8/31/2009: We have had so much going on lately...our lives and passions have been EXPLODING, and one night I could not even sleep much, because I just felt so full of excitement and Joy and anticipation of the wonders and magic and glorious LIFE that *is* and all that is yet to come...
One of the things that kept me awake was the great idea I had for Sam to keep a blog about his passion for cooking and mixology. He had just realized a few nights earlier that Mexican food was the specialty he wanted to be cooking and learning about. So many ideas went through my head at that time...the books we would get, the recipes we would make, the trips we would take...and then the blog idea came up and I could hardly wait for him to get up the next morning to share the idea with him.
The next morning came and I was joyfully walking forward toward everything *else* that has been happening in our lives...and when Sam woke up, I shared my idea of the blog with him...and there it sat. No, it didn't even *sit*...it SANK.
OK...OK...this is good. This is fine. B-r-e-a-t-h-e...!! It's OK... All is still well!
This was *my* idea...this was something *I* thought of, that *I* felt was a good path to travel. Not Sam's. So I let it go (without any shame or judgment toward Sam for not liking my idea!!) and continued on with life, with the *other* paths and ideas.
Today, as I was eating leftover tamales, the obvious answer for my blog-desire came to me (yes, the obvious often eludes me). *I* should keep the blog...and not just about Sam's cooking and drink-mixing, but about our entire family's adventures in LIFE...much of it focused around our love of good foods and beverages.
So here we are.
We are Anne, Dave, Jake and Sam. Jake (9/1990) and Sam (4/1994) are unschoolers ~ they have never been to school a day in their lives. They follow their passions every single day. This is Sheer Joy.
And since you're here with us, we hope you EnJoy.
