Thank you, Anthony Bourdain.
For SO much...but for now, thank you for bringing this restaurant ~ Co. ~ into our awareness.
It was the No Reservations episode about Obsessions. Oh yeah, this family knows about obsessions. However, we call them passions. And it's what we know to follow in our lives ~ that to which our hearts and minds are drawn...
Of COURSE we were drawn to the dude who is obsessed with yeast! That would be Chef Jim Lahey, owner of Co. and Sullivan Street Bakery. The minute I saw those pizzas from Co. on that episode of *No Reservations*, I had to have them.
And so I worked it into our itinerary for our October 20 visit to NYC...the visit whose purpose was to allow Jake and Ava see *Phoenix* at Madison Square Garden...and the visit whose "fringe benefits" kept expanding, since Marji and I also got to see Wicked on Broadway, and since we all got to experience the glory of this restaurant.
It worked out well, since my upcoming November NYC birthday party gathering of 20+ people was not finding the right venue for our lunch. We tried Otto (another favorite pizza place of ours), but they wanted us to do a party menu, which would basically have amounted to about $60/person. Um...no, thank you...lunch should not cost $60/person. For pizza. And then we thought of Eataly, and we hadn't even fully discounted it before we sat down at Co. on that October afternoon, saw the gorgeous communal tables, experienced the ambiance, enJoyed the knowledgeable and very friendly wait-staff, and tasted the phenomenal foods. I looked around and said, "This is it. This is my birthday party lunch place!"
And so, here are the photos of this fantastic place. I am SO excited to return with my Sam and my honey next time, along with a few of my lovely, Shining friends.
EnJoy... (we did!)...
